Nominations
President Bush to Nominate Two Individuals to Serve in His Administration

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate John Peter Suarez to be Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency for Enforcement and Compliance Assurance.  Suarez has served as the Director of the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement since 1999 and was previously Assistant Counsel to then-Governor Whitman.  In 1998, he was Special Assistant to the Director of the Criminal Justice in the State of New Jersey.  From 1992 to 1998, Suarez was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the District of New Jersey. He is a graduate of Tufts University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

The President intends to nominate J. Russell George to be Inspector General of the Corporation for National and Community Service.  George has been Staff Director and Chief Counsel to the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform, Subcommittee on Government Management, Information and Technology since 1995.   From 1993 to 1994, he was an Associate with the New York law firm of Kramer, Levin, Naftalis, Nessen, Kamin and Frankel.  From 1990 to 1993, George was with the White House, first as Assistant General Counsel in the Office of Management and Budget and then as Associate Director for Policy where he provided legal counsel to the Office of National Service.  Before joining OMB, he was an Assistant Prosecutor with the Queens County District Attorney's Office.  George is a graduate of Howard University and Harvard University Law School.
