Mr. DURBIN introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the Committee on Armed Services
A BILL
To amend title 37, United States Code, to increase the rate of imminent danger special pay and the amount of the family separation allowance.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.
This Act may be cited as the `Combat and Family Separation Pay Improvement Act of 2003'.
SEC. 2. INCREASE IN IMMINENT DANGER SPECIAL PAY AND FAMILY SEPARATION ALLOWANCE.
(a) IMMINENT DANGER SPECIAL PAY- Section 310(a) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking `$150' and inserting `$400'.
(b) FAMILY SEPARATION ALLOWANCE- Section 427(a)(1) of title 37, United States Code, is amended by striking `$100' and inserting `$400'.
(c) EFFECTIVE DATE- The amendments made by this section shall take effect on March 1, 2003, and shall apply with respect to months beginning on or after that date.
