USGS scientists Gregg Wiche, Steve Norbeck, and Kevin Guttormson installed two flood warning gages on the Latoritsa River in the Ukraine, June 17-18. The gages, located on the Latoritsa River at Svalyava and Pidpolozzya, record water level, air and water temperature, and precipitation. The data are available online at: http://nd.water.usgs.gov/ukraine, and the site is linked to the National Water Information System (NWISWeb). A ribbon cutting ceremony took place at the Svalyava gage on June 19. The U.S. Ambassador to the Ukraine, the Mayor of Svalyava, representatives from the Ukrainian Land and Resources Management Center, and other dignitaries attended.
