PMF Hiring Process

Each potential PMF supervisor will conduct interviews for each PMF position. PMF finalists should contact the person listed as the Contact for the position that they are interested in to arrange an interview. Some supervisors may conduct interviews at the PMF Job Fair while others may hold interviews in Atlanta or via telephone. Travel to Atlanta for interviews will be paid by the PMF finalist and will not be reimbursed by CDC. Please be aware that each Centers/Institute/Offices (CIO) handles the hiring process differently. You should contact EACH CIO that you are interested in prior to the PMF Job Fair to be sure that you receive full consideration from each CIO hiring PMFs at the CDC.

Once appointed, all CDC employees, including PMFs, have a probation period. For PMFs, this period is for the duration of the PMF program. After 2 years, PMFs are eligible for conversion to career employment status. The hiring supervisor will be able to answer any questions that you may have regarding opportunities for rotations, start dates, and the structure of your PMF tenure. Additional questions may be referred to the PMF coordinator, Karen Scarlett-Adams (link to her email address) or to any of the current and former PMF’s listed on this website. (Link to that page) There will also be current CDC PMF’s at the job fair in Washington DC available to answer any questions and share their experiences at CDC with you.
