About Us
What is h.i.p. pocket change™?

With coins, we literally carry the past in our pockets. Yet seldom do we stop and consider the historical riches at our fingertips. This site aims to change that by stimulating a lifelong enjoyment of numismatics.

The History In Your Pocket (H.I.P.) Pocket Change site showcases the connection between this country's coins and its people. Through games, stories, and other engaging activities, the site brings to life both the extraordinary individuals who appear on U.S. coinage and the generations of citizens who've used this pocket change.

In addition, the H.I.P. Pocket Change site is designed to build an online educational community that will help teachers share the innovative ways they've found to use coins in the classroom. Several teachers have already participated, along with a number of organizations. Without their valuable contributions, as well as the Department of Education's Federal Resources for Educational Excellence (FREE) grant, this site would not have been possible.

Got a pocketful of change? Then you've got a pocketful of history!
