(10/20/2004) Stillwater Weather Radio Event.The National Weather Service, along with Stillwater Emergency Management and the Stillwater Amateur Radio Club, will be at the Radio Shack, 711 North Perkins Road in Stillwater this Saturday, October 23rd, from 11AM until 1PM CDT.

You're invited to stop by and meet representatives from the National Weather Service and Stillwater Emergency Management. You can even get assistance in programming your weather radio to receive life-saving warnings through the new Stillwater weather radio transmitter. We hope to see you there!

(10/13/2004) New Storm Data File. A new storm data file for the month of July 2004 is available through the Storm Data page.

(10/13/2004) Open House.The NWS Norman Forecast Office will have an open house this Saturday, October 16th, 2004 from 9 am - 1 pm CDT. The open house is part of the 40th anniversary celebration of our partners at the National Severe Storms Laboratory (NSSL). The open house, which will also include the NSSL, Storm Prediction Center (SPC), Radar Operations Center (ROC), and Warning Decision Training Branch (WDTB), is free and open to the public. The NWS Norman staff will launch a special weather balloon at 12 pm CDT.

(10/6/2004) 2004-2005 Winter Outlook Scientists announced that a number of climate conditions will influence the winter weather across the United States from December through February. Please go to the 2004-2005 Winter Outlook for information.

(10/4/2004) U.S. Postal Service Issues New Stamps. The United States Postal Service (USPS) issued the new 15-Cloudscapes commemorative postage stamps on October 4, 2004. Samples of the new stamps can be viewed on a sample web page. A direct link to the stamps on the USPS web site can be found here.


(9/30/2004) OKC Area Tornado Data Updated. The comprehensive list of tornadoes in the Oklahoma City, OK area since 1890 has been updated to include a tornado which occurred in May 2004.

(3/27/2004) March 28 - April 3, 2004 has been designated as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Oklahoma. The week of March 28 - April 3, 2004 has been proclaimed as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Oklahoma. During this week, the National Weather Service in Norman will feature severe weather information and safety rules through the issuance of Public Information Statements. (2/28/2004) February 29 - March 6, 2004 has been designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Texas.. Governor Mark Perry has proclaimed the week of February 29 - March 6, 2004 as Severe Weather Awareness Week in Texas. During this week, National Weather Service offices throughout Texas will feature severe weather information and safety rules through the issuance of Public Information Statements. (1/02/2004) Sunrise/Sunset and Moonrise/Moonset Data Updated. The sunrise/sunset and moonrise/moonset data for selected sites in the region have been updated for 2003. The data are available through the sunrise/sunset and the moonrise/moonset pages.

(1/01/2004) 2003 Weather Review A review of the weather events and climatology for 2003 is now available at this link.

(1/01/2004) Heavy Snowfall Study Mike Branick, Lead Forecaster at WFO Norman, conducted a long-term study of heavy snowfall events in Oklahoma. A discussion of this information is now available through the special climate topics web page. Mike also used his study to write a technical memorandum entitled "Monthly and Geographic Distribution of Heavy Snow Events in Oklahoma, 1951-2001," which is avaliable at this link.
