(12/11/2000) Updated 2000 Tornado Data. Updated tables containing information on tornadoes which occurred in Oklahoma and the NWS Norman County Warning Area are available through the Tornoado Data page.

(07/21/2000) National Weather Service Names Dennis McCarthy as Central Region Director. After serving 10 years as the Meteorologist-in-Charge at the NWS Norman, Oklahoma forecast office, Dennis McCarthy was recently selected as the new NWS Central Region Director. (06/12/2000) WMO Headers to Change for NWS Norman Products. At 8:00 am CDT on June 13, 2000, the WMO headers will be changed for many products issued by NWS Norman and other Southern Region offices. For more information, please view the Systems Operations Center Change Notice .

(06/12/2000) New storm data files are available. New storm data files for the months of January, February and March 2000 have been added to the Storm Data page.


(04/14/2000) Frequently Asked Questions about the May 3, 1999 Bridge Creek/OKC Area Tornado. A FAQ page with information regarding the Bridge Creek/OKC Area tornado is available. Several tornado myths surrounding the May 3, 1999 tornado have surfaced and the FAQ page is our initial attempt in dealing with these myths.


(03/03/2000) Severe Weather Preparedness press releases are available. Press releases pertaining to severe weather preparedness are now available via the NOAA Weather Partners Public Affairs web site from the National Weather Service and American Meteorological Society . The NWS press release also announces the location of the new StormReady web site. This site is at:
