US Economy Gains 3.7 Percent in Q3
The U.S. economy grew at a strong, but less-than-expected 3.7 percent annual rate in the third quarter, the Commerce Department estimated today. The growth rate in real gross domestic product accelerated from the 3.3 percent recorded in the second quarter as consumer spending increased.

Microsoft Faces Suit for Selling 'Defective' Game Systems
A man in Los Angeles filed a class action suit against U.S. software giant Microsoft yesterday, claiming that the company manufactured and sold thousands of defective Xbox video game systems. The suit filed in Los Angeles said the systems "contain a defect that causes the disc drive to crash ... making the accompanying games purchased by the consumer unusable and non-functioning."

Bush Campaign Web Site Blocking Foreign Access
In a possible reaction to hacker concerns, the Bush Administration has blocked at least some foreign visitor access to its official re-election site. The British Internet traffic analysis company Netcraft reported several locations have not had access to the site since Monday.
