About GSA NCR Celebrates Successful Veterans Business Fair

On May 27, 2004, Former U.S. Senator Robert J. Dole, Department of Veterans Affairs Deputy Secretary Gordon Mansfield, GSA Administrator Stephen A. Perry, RAs Brad Scott and Barbara Shelton joined Donald and Ann at the NCR/VA sponsored veterans business fair, “Opening Doors for America’s Heroes”.   More than 700 veterans registered for the event with 23 federal agencies and 26 corporate prime contractors also attending, who set up exhibits and discussed opportunities to do work for the federal government.

Held at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, both Veteran and Service-disabled Veteran business owners participated in the daylong program that included a series of workshops, a showcase of business opportunities by both prime contractors and federal agencies, and one-on-one business counseling sessions. Heartland Regional Administrator Brad Scott presented information on the new "Service Disabled Veterans' Business" set aside program called Operation Fastbreak.

Concluding the program, former U.S. Senator Bob Dole paid tribute to the veterans' service to the nation and discussed the World War II Memorial dedicated on May 29, 2004.
