Kidney Walk is a non-competitive Walk focusing on education and prevention of kidney and urinary tract diseases, and awareness of the need for organ donation. Our goals are to increase public awareness of the critical need for organ donation, to demonstrate the success of transplantation and to increase awareness in the transplant community on the benefits of fitness and well-being through transplant athletic programs. The National Donor Family Council supports the needs and expectations of all organ and tissue donor families and assists the health care professionals who work most closely with these families. The Patient and Family Council provides an avenue for patients to express their concerns and identify problems so that the Foundation can help address those concerns and problems in an effective way. The transAction Council is committed to actively meeting the unique needs and concerns of individuals with all types of organ transplants. The National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Early Evaluation Program (KEEP) is designed to identify those at risk for kidney disease. The National Kidney Foundation has launched an important program to establish and disseminate guidelines to improve clinical outcomes for individuals with kidney disease at all stages. This effort is known as the Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative, or K/DOQI. The issues surrounding living donation are unique. Donors may have serious questions and fears related to medical, emotional, financial and relationship concerns that can only be addressed by another living donor. We encourage you and your family to explore the resources on this site and connect with families who understand where you have been. The Kidney Cars Program is the easy way to donate your car, van, truck, or boat. By donating your vehicle, you are helping to fund public education, patient and community services, research, professional education and organ donation programs of the National Kidney Foundation.
