Statement by the Press Secretary

On Wednesday, December 16, 2002, the President signed into law:

H.R. 38, which authorizes the Secretary of Interior to acquire additional lands to be included within the boundaries of the Homestead National Monument of America in Nebraska.

H.R. 308, which establishes a Guam War Claims Review Commission to examine the war claims paid by the Federal Government to residents of Guam.

H.R. 451, which revises the boundaries of the Mount Nebo Wilderness Area in Utah.

H.R. 706, which directs the Department of the Interior to convey certain properties in New Mexico.

H.R. 1712, which authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to make adjustments to the boundary of the National Park of American Samoa.

H.R. 1776, which directs the Secretary of the Interior to study the suitability and feasibility of establishing the Buffalo Bayou National Heritage Area in Houston, Texas.

H.R. 1814, which requires the Secretary of the Interior to conduct a study of the Metacomet-Monadnock-Mattabesett Trail in New England for potential addition to the National Trails System.

H.R. 1870, which directs in Department of the Interior to sell 6.3 acres of land to the City of Fallon, Nevada.

H.R. 1906, which expands the boundary of the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park in the State of Hawaii.

H.R. 1925, which requires the Department of the Interior to study the suitability and feasibility of establishing the Waco Mammoth Site Area as a unit of the National Park System.
