Rural Housing Service
Provides a number of homeownership opportunities to rural
Americans, as well as programs for home renovation and repair. The
Rural Housing Service also finances multi-unit buildings to provide
affordable housing for elderly, disabled, or low-income rural residents.
Community Facilities
Programs
Provides loans, loan guarantees and grants for constructing, enlarging, or
improving community facilities for health care, public safety, and a wide
variety of public services in rural areas.
Rural Business-Cooperative
Service
Supports economic and business development in rural
communities. Financial assistance is offered in the form of grants, loans
and loan guarantees. Non-financial assistance is offered in cooperative
development and technical assistance to entrepreneurs and development
organizations.
Rural Utilities Service
Provides rural businesses and households with modern
telecommunications, electric power and water and wastewater service. This
includes bringing the information "superhighway" to rural
America; guaranteeing affordable, more reliable electric power; and
delivering safe, clean drinking water with environmental sound wastewater
disposal to rural areas.
Community
Development Programs
Administers technical and community-building assistance to communities
within USDA Rural Development's REAP Zone and Champion Community programs.
