EducationBachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Texas at Brownsville, currently working towards a Master of Science in Biology at the University of Texas - Pan AmericanSARC BackgroundI have been working with Dr. Larry Zibilske since September, 1999, at the Integrated Farming & Natural Resources Research Unit. I started my career with ARS in the Crop Quality & Fruit Insect Research Unit in June of 1996, working with Dr. Guy Hallman on postharvest disinfestations treatments, specifically irradiation as a quarantine treatment.ResponsibilitiesI conduct experiments in support of research in organic matter transformations. I monitor and note the effects of tillage on nutrient pools in soil through carbon extractions, phosphorous extractions and gas chromatography. I also monitor soil microbial ecology through lab culture colonies. I am also responsible for monitoring and maintaining cover crop plots.INTERESTSAnything as long as it's outdoors, fishing, camping, etc. I am also a Boy Scout Den Leader, Girl Scout Assistant Leader, baseball assistant coach.
