Dr. Kevin Czajkowski and researchers at the University of Toledo would like to announce a field campaign for GLOBE students to take surface temperature observations. We need as many surface temperature observations as possible during the intensive period November 1-12, 2004. In order to participate, a GLOBE-trained school must have an infrared (non-contact) thermometer that meets GLOBE specifications (see bottom of this announcement) and follow the directions given in the Surface Temperature Protocol. Wissenschaftler-Ecke Material zu tropischen Zyklonen im World Wide Web Die diesjährige Saison tropischer Zyklone (Hurricans) ruft bei uns in Erinnerung, dass diese eine extreme Gefahr für Leben und Besitz darstellen. Hilflos mussten wir Bildern über schwere Überflutungen in Indien, Bangladesh, China, Japan, der Karibik, den USA und vielen anderen Orten in den Nachrichten zusehen. Es gab nicht nur Todesfälle durch Überschwemmungen sondern auch durch einstürzende Häuser, fallende Bäume und Dinge, die durch die Luft flogen.
