Title: Car Rental (653)

Printable Format(s): Word   Printer Friendly Page

In 1986, SDDC was tasked with managing the rental car program for the federal government. SDDC implemented the U.S. Government Rental Car Agreement. Because of this agreement travelers with a travel order or government-sponsored charge card receive superior rates when renting for official business. The agreement has many benefits other than rates, such as unlimited mileage, reduced age restriction and collision damage waiver insurance.

Background

SDDC has completed the first rewrite of the U.S. Government Car Rental Agreement, since first published in 1991. U.S. Government Rental Agreement Number 2 is a joint effort of industry and SDDC personnel to improve the car rental program, currently valued at $325M. The service providers' requirements are enhanced in the areas of insurance and company quality control programs. Program benefits for all government official business travelers (DOD and Federal agencies) in the contiguous United States and overseas include automatic unlimited mileage, collision damage insurance and fixed rental rates.
