The Division of AIDS (DAIDS) supports basic, preclinical, and
clinical research to assist in the development of safe and effective therapies
for the treatment of HIV, opportunistic infections, and TB. It funds
this research via common NIH grant and contract mechanisms.
Investigator-Initiated Research. Investigators submit
unsolicited research proposals to NIH following established receipt
dates and using standard Public Health Service grant application forms.
Targeted Research Areas. Investigators submit research
proposals in direct response to a public solicitation by NIH for grant
or contract proposals in specific research areas of particular interest
to DAIDS.
