OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR

Advises and counsels the Department's general officers on public affairs matters, organizes and directs the activities of the public affairs office, and provides advice and counsel to all agency public affairs directors and coordinators regarding public affairs and information matters. The office directs and coordinates the overall organizational structures and staffing patterns for the public affairs activities of the Department and its agencies. Supervises final clearance for the production and distribution of visual information materials, and maintains review over all publishing and printing activities of the Department, and assists general officers with the preparation of speeches. The office oversees news conferences of the Secretary.
