was one of the worst in American history. Staff photojournalist
Bob Nichols was there, on the fire line, to document the fires and the
work of the US Forest Service and other state and federal agencies. He

We've just made major additions to our "Animals"
section in the areas of "Beef Cattle", "Dairy Cattle" and "Horses".
"Beef Cattle" and "Dairy Cattle" sections now feature sections
by breed and the "Horses" section is broken out by type, i.e. "Draft
Horses", "Racehorses", "Riding Horses", and "Show Horses". |

One of USDA's greatest responsibilities is the overseeing
of America's nutrition. The Women, Infants and Children
( WIC ) program is
a key element in which USDA exercises that responsibility in nurturing
and protecting the most vulnerable of our people. Photography
Center staff photojournalist Ken Hammond recently spent some time
at a WIC clinic and has
put together this collection for your use.

building character and promoting a strong work ethic in
Americas youth. 4H
projects in raising, caring for and showing animals continue
to develop good citizens across the country. We've
just put up a new section showing
4H youngsters and their animals. |

The Photography Center is located in room 1544,
South Building, between 12th and 14th Streets, on Independence
Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20250. The Center's mission is to acquire and make available, to the people of the United States, useful photography depicting general agriculture, health, economics, resource conservation, forestry, and other programs administered by the agencies of the Department of Agriculture. To accomplish this work it is divided into three areas: Photo Services , Photojournalism , Photo Library
