Acquisition Electronic Acquisition Tools

Electronic acquisition tools are generally Internet based programs which aid the acquisition official in performing their responsibilities or providing career development. For example, the Small Business Administration (SBA) created ProNet. This tool was used by small disadvantaged and HUBZone firms to register and obtain certification and by acquisition officials to locate firms for soliciting.

Several tools have been developed recently:

  • Central Contractor Registration (CCR);
  • Past Performance Information System (PPIS); and
  • FedBizOpps.

Tools under development include:

  • Acquisition Knowledge Management Portal (AKMP); and
  • Online Representations and Certifications (ORCA).

The Integrated Acquisition Environment (IAE) is coordinating the federal agencies in using a tool developed by one agency instead of creating the same tool many times over. More information on the IAE can be found at the E-Gov website.
