The Professional Engineering Services (PES) Schedule, number 871, was established by the General Services Administration (GSA) to provide federal agencies with solutions for their various engineering requirements and allow those agencies to procure the services they need.

This multiple award schedule grants agencies direct access to the commercial experts who can thoroughly address the needs of the federal engineering community through six Special Item Numbers (SINs) that comprise the distinct phases of an engineering project.

  • 871-1  Strategic Planning for Technology Programs/Activities;
  • 871-2  Concept Development and Requirements Analysis;
  • 871-3  System Design, Engineering and Integration;
  • 871-4  Test and Evaluation;
  • 871-5  Integrated Logistics Support; and
  • 871-6  Acquisition and Life Cycle Management.

These cover the major disciplines of mechanical, electrical, chemical and components of civil engineering, as well as numerous numerous sub-disciplines such as: aerospace, nuclear, bioengineering, and marine architecture.

What the PES Schedule DOES NOT COVER is Architect/Engineering (A&E), and Design/Construction services as defined by Brooks Act and in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) under FAR Part 36 .  For more information on these types of services, plese visit GSA's Public Building Service.

The PES schedule allows for choice, flexibility, ease of use, and access to quality businesses in the engineering arena from small businesses to the industry giants.

Upon request, GSA's Federal Technology Service will handle the procurement of an agency's service contract needs.
