On January 8, 2003, the National Transportation Safety Board launched a Go-Team to Charlotte, North Carolina, to investigate the crash of Air Midwest (d.b.a. US Airways Express) flight 5481.

The plane, a Beech 1900D (N233YV) carrying 2 crewmembers and 19 passengers, crashed shortly after takeoff on January 8, 2003, from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Impact forces and fire destroyed the aircraft; there were no survivors.
