     Memorial Day 2004

     "This weekend, hundreds of thousands of veterans will descend 
     on Washington to celebrate the dedication of the newest 
     memorial in our nation’s capital. This long-overdue tribute to 
     those who made the greatest sacrifice for our freedom in World 
     War II reminds us of the many fallen soldiers in our country’s history 
     as well as our gratitude to them.

     "I would like to personally thank all the men and women who have 
     served in our armed forces over the decades, during times of both war and 
     peace. And as we remember those from times past, let us also 
     remember, with prayers and best wishes, the American soldiers and their 
     families who are making the same sacrifices around the world today."
