President Bush to Nominate Dobriansky as Under Secretary of State and Cabaniss as Chairman of the Federal Labor Relations Authority

President George W. Bush announced today his intention to nominate the following individual to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate Paula J. Dobriansky to be Under Secretary of State for Global Affairs.  She is currently the Vice President and Director of the Washington office of the Council on Foreign Relations.  In the past she has served as the Associate Director of the Bureau of Policy and Programs at the U.S. Information Agency from 1990 to 1993; as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs from 1987 to 1990; and in the office of European and Soviet Affairs at the National Security Council from 1980 to 1987.  She is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and received both her Master's degree and Ph.D. from Harvard University.

President George W. Bush today announced his designation of Dale Cabaniss to be the Chairman of the Federal Labor Relations Authority.  She has been a member of the three-person Federal Labor Relations Authority since 1997, and prior to that was a Professional Staff Member at the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services and Education.  She served as Chief Counsel for the Senate Governmental Affairs Subcommittee on Post Office and Civil Service from 1993 to 1996 and was a member of Senator Frank Murkowski's staff from 1984 to 1993.  She is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University.
