President Bush to Nominate Allgeier and Deily to be Deputy United States Trade Representatives

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate Peter F. Allgeier to be Deputy United State Trade Representative with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.  He is currently the Senior Director for International Economic Affairs at the National Economic Council.  Before joining the National Economic Council, he had served at the office of the United States Trade Representatives since 1981.  While there, he served as the Associate United States Trade Representatives for the Western Hemisphere and Assistant United States Trade Representative for Europe and the Mediterranean and was presented the Presidential Distinguished Rank Award by President Reagan in 1988.  He is a graduate of Brown University, received his Master's degree from Johns Hopkins University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina.

The President intends to nominate Linnet F. Deily to be Deputy United States Trade Representative with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.  She is presently Vice Chairman in the Office of the President for the Charles Schwab Corporation.  She joined Schwab in 1996 as the President of Schwab International and then led the Schwab Retail Group. Prior to joining Schwab she was President, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of First Interstate Bank of Texas.  She is a graduate of the University of Texas and received a Master's degree from the University of Texas at Dallas.
