A procedure has been arranged with Mission Pharmacal to release a lot of their drug product Thiola to patients with cystinuria. A special release procedure was necessary due to the short expiration period of this lot of the drug. The expiration date will be the last date that lot will be expected to be effective in treating or preventing cystinuria. The FDA felt it vital to make the drug available to patients who were currently out of product, or soon may be. The patient's pharmacist or physican should call Mission at 1-800-531-3333 to have them fax the forms for Thiola. The drug will be overnighted to a patient's pharmacy once the physician and pharmacy forms are faxed back to Mission.
