Effects of Hurricane Mitch

The Foreign Agricultural Service’s Production Estimates and Crop Assessment Division used satellite imagery to help determine the effects of Hurricane Mitch on agricultural interests in Central America. Following is an analysis of the agricultural damage and some Landsat 5 images comparing like Spring 1998 images to Spring 1999 over portions of Honduras and Nicaragua.
