SBIR-STTR Workshops & Conferences
- SBIR/STTR Conference, San Juan area, Puerto Rico, April 14-17, 2004.
This event will spotlight a different technical area during each of the first three days (Homeland security, health sciences, electronics/communications/software). It will also cover proposal preparation. Representatives of the SBIR/STTR awarding agencies are invited to participate. On the morning of the 17th, a half-day workshop on SBIR/STTR cost proposals and government accounting will take place. Additional time will be spent covering aspects of Phase II of an SBIR/STTR project. This event is sponsored in part by the Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) of Puerto Rico. - SBIR/STTR Cost Proposals and Government Accounting, Melbourne, Florida, April 20, 2004. This full day workshop is devoted to the very important subject of the cost proposal that must accompany any SBIR or STTR proposal. It is relevant to Phase I competitors, and is critical to Phase II applicants because of the increased budget and greater scrutiny of a Phase II effort. Topics like indirect rates (including overhead, G&A;, and F&A;), unallowable costs, and audits will be covered. For more information, contact boregan@trda.org.
- National SBIR Conference, Atlanta, Georgia, April 26-29, 2004. This is a valuable opportunity to receive the latest information on the SBIR and STTR programs. It is also an opportunity to meet with representatives of all of the SBIR and STTR agencies. A Phase I proposal preparation workshop will take place as a pre-conference event on April 26th, and a Phase II proposal preparation workshop on the afternoon of April 29th will be held. - SBIR Conference, Dallas Texas, May 11th 2004. The North Texas Small Business Development Center, the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, and the North Texas Technology Council (NTTC) are hosting the 2004 SBIR Conference from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Bill J. Priest Institute for Economic Development Conference Center, 1402 Corinth St., Dallas, Texas. The conference features one-on-one meetings with program managers who administer SBIR/STTR grants, and advice/insights from executives at companies that have received grants, university representatives and a legal panel. - SBIR/STTR Phase I & Phase II Proposal Preparation Workshops, Tucson, Arizona, May 11-12, 2004. On May 11th, the workshop will cover everything from the basics of the program, through a simple but effective four step process for developing a competitive Phase I proposal. Then on the 12th, the focus will be on Phase II of the SBIR/STTR programs, addressing important topics like commercializing SBIR/STTR technologies and how to prepare the Phase II proposal. - SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Preparation Workshop, Flagstaff, Arizona, May 13, 2004. This workshop will cover the basics of SBIR/STTR, and a four-step process for preparing a Phase I SBIR/STTR proposal. It will end with a chance for attendees to review an actual Phase I proposal. - SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Preparation Workshop, Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, May 18, 2004. This workshop will cover everything from the basics of the program through a simple but effective four step process for developing a competitive Phase I proposal. Attendees also will have an opportunity to review a real SBIR proposal and discuss its strengths and weaknesses as a group. For more information, contact sbir@sbtdc.org.
- SBIR/STTR Phase 2 Proposal Preparation Workshop (tentative), Los Alamos, New Mexico, May 26, 2004. This workshop will focus on the all-important second Phase of an SBIR or STTR project, which is much larger (both time and dollars) than the Phase I that precedes it. The basics of Phase II will be covered including, how Phase II differs from agency to agency. A process for developing a Phase II SBIR or STTR proposal will be introduced and, alternative paths for commercializing an SBIR/STTR technology will be addressed. - Virginia’s 10th Annual Small Business Innovative Research Conference, October 13- 14, 2004. Sheraton Hotel, Crystal City, 1800 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia, 22202. This conference helps Virginia's small businesses increase their chances of winning SBIR/STTR and ATP awards to develop and commercialize their technologies. Attendees from all regions of the Commonwealth will hear the latest program developments from federal agency program managers and gain insight for preparing successful award applications, based on current agency mission requirements.
