Stanford Biologist Paul Ehrlich to Speak at NSF on Population and the EnvironmentWell-known author and population biologist Paul Ehrlich of Stanford University will speak at the National Science Foundation on the current state of the "human predicament", and relate population and consumption to such diverse problems as the loss of biodiversity, terrorism and deterioration of the epidemiological environment. He will point to cultural issues, research and policy needed to help solve environmental dilemmas. Ehrlich has devoted his career to research on population biology, ecology, evolutionary biology and human ecology. He is the author or co-author of more than 800 scientific papers and articles in the popular press and more than 35 books. His first book, The Population Bomb, brought worldwide attention to the problem of overpopulation. More recent books include: Betrayal of Science and Reason: How Anti-Environment Rhetoric Threatens Our Future and Human Natures: Genes, Cultures, and the Human Prospect.
