Marines who stand inspection proudly wearing their Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal may find themselves frowning after they find out they're wearing it incorrectly. Marine Online is offering guidance -- albeit incorrect -- on how to wear the medal. As of Oct. 26, the incorrect information remained on Marine Online with the disclaimer 'unofficial.'

CAMP HANSEN, OKINAWA, Japan — Master Sgt. John W. Nash receives the Purple Heart Medal from Brig. Gen. Christian B. Cowdrey in front of more than 200 servicemembers and families during a Beirut memorial ceremony at the Okinawa Staff Noncommissioned Officers’ Academy here Oct. 22. Nash, the deputy director of the SNCOA, received the medal for injuries sustained 21 years ago in Beirut, Lebanon. Cowdrey is the commanding general of the 3rd Marine Division.
