     1997 RELEASE DATES FOR THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND ESTIMATES REPORT
     
          WASHINGTON, Dec. 10--The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates
     (WASDE) report will be released 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time on the following dates in 1997:
     Jan. 10, Feb. 12, Mar. 11, Apr. 11, May 12, June 12, July 11, Aug. 12, Sept. 12, Oct. 10,
     Nov. 10, and Dec. 11.
          Release dates coincide with release of the Crop Production report, except in
     January.  The January Crop Production report will be issued on Jan. 9.  The WASDE
     report will be released Jan. 10, at the same time as the Crop Production Annual, Winter
     Wheat and Rye Seedings, and Grain Stocks reports.
          The WASDE report, which forecasts U.S. and world supply and use for major
     commodities, is issued by the World Agricultural Outlook Board of USDA's Office of the
     Chief Economist.  The report can be accessed on the Internet within one hour of release
     on the USDA Economics and Statistics System at: http://www.mannlib.cornell.edu/usda
     and on http://www.usda.gov/oce.  Free access also is available through a dial-up bulletin
