Bridge, 202-720-5447 rbridge@oce.usda.gov ADVISORY ON THE MAY 10 SUPPLY AND DEMAND ESTIMATES REPORT Washington, May 4--The May 10 World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report will provide USDA's first assessment of supply, demand, and prices for the coming year. The WASDE report is issued by the World Agricultural Outlook Board of USDA's Office of the Chief Economist. The May 10 issue will present USDA's first projections for marketing year 2001/2002 for grains, oilseeds, and cotton. In addition to U.S., foreign, and world supply and demand estimates for these crops, the May issue will include foreign country projections for wheat, coarse grains, and corn. For rice, soybeans and products, and cotton, 2001/2002 foreign country projections will commence with the July 11 issue. The May 10 report also will include the first 2001/2002 projections for U.S. sugar and U.S. milk supply and use, and calendar-year 2002 projections for U.S. meat and poultry products. All table formats and the order of tables will be the same as those in May 2000 issue. NOTE: Supply and demand projections in the May 10 report will incorporate historical revisions of USDA's estimates of domestic grain consumption and stocks for China. A discussion of the revisions and a comparison of old and new estimates will be presented at the end of the report.
