Societal Dimensions of Engineering, Science, and Technology Program
photo - scientist checking test tubeThe Societal Dimensions of Engineering, Science, and Technology (SDEST) program contains two components: Ethics and Values Studies, and Research on Science and Technology. The program announcement is NSF 01-152. Target dates for submitting proposals are February 1 and August 1. In SDEST, Ethics and Values Studies (EVS) focuses on ethics and science, and technology and society. Research on Science and Technology (RST) supports examination of social priorities for research investment. In each of the past few years, the program has made about 25 new awards, with a budget of about $2.5 million.
