For SBIC Applicants

Dear SBIC Applicant:
Thank you for your interest in serving the venture capital needs of America’s entrepreneurs through the SBIC program. The Investment Division is dedicated to making your application process for an SBIC license easy to understand and as efficient as possible. We suggest you start this process by helping us pre-screen your prospective interest and qualifications. The document Is the SBIC Program Right for You? summarizes the qualifications generally needed to obtain an SBIC license and provides guidance on the licensing process from start to finish. Please also visit other areas of our website, such as the FAQs section, which should help you become more familiar with our program and the services we provide.

We hope that this section of the website helps you assess whether you have what it takes as a management team to receive an SBIC license. If you feel you do, and are ready to proceed with an application, please send us an e-mail at sbic@sba.gov or contact our business development staff at 202-205-6510.

With kind regards,
Jeff Pierson
Associate Administrator for Investment
