Mr. DOOLITTLE (for himself and Mr. OSE) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Resources

A BILL

To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to construct and rehabilitate Federal water supply lines associated with Folsom Dam in California, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. CONSTRUCTION AND REHABILITATION OF FEDERAL WATER SUPPLY LINES AT FOLSOM DAM, CALIFORNIA.

(a) CONSTRUCTION OF PARALLEL WATER SUPPLY LINE-

(1) IN GENERAL- The Secretary of the Interior may carry out a project to design and construct a parallel water supply line connecting the Folsom Dam pumping facility in California to the Hinkle Wye in California serving the City of Roseville, California, and the San Juan Water District, California.

(2) DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION- In designing and constructing the parallel water supply line, the Secretary shall--

(A) act as expeditiously as possible in carrying out the project in recognition of the critical nature of the facility; and

(B) coordinate closely with the City of Roseville, California, and the San Juan Water District, California, to ensure the new pipeline meets the current and future needs of the persons served by the facility.

(b) REHABILITATION OF EXISTING FEDERAL WATER SUPPLY LINE- The Secretary of the Interior may carry out a project to rehabilitate the existing water supply line connecting the Folsom Dam pumping facility in California to the Hinkle Wye in California serving the City of Roseville, California, and the San Juan Water District, California.

(c) AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS- There is authorized to be appropriated to the Secretary to carry out this section a total of $12,000,000 for fiscal years beginning after September 30, 2003.
