The GEICO Public Service Awards
The Government Employees Insurance Company (GEICO) Public Service Awards, established in 1980, "emphasize GEICO's belief that the contributions of many hardworking, talented government employees are deserving of special acclaim." GEICO's Philanthropic Foundation sponsors the awards. The Foundation grants one award to each of four active Federal employees for outstanding achievements in one of the following areas:
Award winners receive a $2,500 cash award, an expense-paid trip to Washington, DC, for the winner and spouse, and a commemorative plaque. For the active Federal employee category, all career civil service employees are eligible. For the retired Federal employee category, individuals must be retired civilian Federal employees on a Federal retiree annuity, and the work meriting consideration for the award must have been accomplished since retirement from the Federal service. The deadline for submitting award nominations and supporting materials is September 1, 2000. For more information, call Daryl Glover of GEICO at 301-986-2798 or 1-800-824-5404 ext. 2798, or go to the Public Service Award web site. |
