The U.S. glass industry is participating with the Department of Energy's Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) in a collaborative strategy called "Industries of the Future".

Together, the Industrial Technologies Program and the U.S. glass industry have

• Entered a public-private partnership
• Set a vision for the Glass Industry of the Future
• Defined R&D priorities in a technology roadmap
• Prepared several analytical studies
• Developed a portfolio of innovative R&D to address high-priority, pre-competitive needs
• Expanded tools and resources available to the glass industry
• Accelerated progress toward major technology improvements

Solicitations

The Industrial Technologies Program awards cost-shared funding for R&D projects through a competitive solicitation process. Projects are performed by collaborative partnerships and must address significant opportunities for energy savings. In this way, the Industrial Technologies Program maintains a balanced portfolio of R&D projects that will help realize national goals for energy and the environment.
