The U.S. Chemical industry is the world's largest, accounting for 25% of world chemical production and 25% of all U.S. manufacturing energy use. Chemicals are the building blocks of many products that meet our most fundamental needs for food, shelter, and health, as well as products vital to such advanced technologies as computing, telecommunications and biotechnology.

Through participation in Industries of the Future process, ITP and the U.S. chemical industry have

  • Set a vision for the future
  • Defined its R&D priorities in roadmaps
  • Developed a portfolio of innovative R&D to address high-priority pre-competitive needs impacting many chemical companies.
  • Established partnerships with chemical associations and consortiums, including the Chemical Industry Vision2020 Technology Partnership
  • Accelerated progress toward major technology breakthroughs

Solicitations

Solicitations

Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) awards cost-shared funding for R&D projects through a competitive solicitation process. Projects are performed by collaborative partnerships and must address industry-specified priorities. In this way, ITP maintains a balanced portfolio of R&D projects that will help realize national goals for energy and the environment.
