President Bush to Nominate Jordan to be Ambassador of the United States to Saudi Arabia

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Robert W. Jordan to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

"Bob Jordan is a leader in his profession and in his community. He understands the important relationship that exists between the United States and Saudi Arabia, and I am confident he will be an outstanding Ambassador," said President Bush.

Mr. Jordan is a partner in the trial department and one of the founding partners of the Dallas office of Baker Botts L.L.P. A recent President of the Dallas Bar Association, he has been involved in the Association in a variety of capacities including Chair of the Associations Antitrust Section, Chair of the Judiciary Committee and Strategic Planning Committee. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas. In 2000 he received the Mentor and Allies Award by the Dallas YWCA for his role in assisting womens career advancement. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he is a graduate of Duke University, received a Masters degree from the University of Maryland and received his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma.
