Nomination and Appointments
President Bush to Announce Several People to Serve in his Administration

President George W. Bush today announced his intent to nominate one individual and announced his intention to appoint nine individuals to serve in his administration.

The President intends to nominate Donna J. Hrinak to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Brazil. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service she is currently Chief of Mission in Venezuela. She held the post of Ambassador to Bolivia from 1998 to 2000 and Ambassador to the Dominican Republic from 1994 to 1998. Hrinak served in Washington D.C. as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Caribbean and Mexican Affairs from 1991 to 1994 and as a desk officer in the Office of Central American Affairs from 1982 to 1984. Her previous assignments overseas include service as Deputy Chief of Mission in Tegucigalpa and Chief of the Political Section in Caracas. She is a graduate of Michigan State University.

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to serve as Members of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation for terms of four years:

John Nau of Texas, to be designated Chairman
Bernadette Castro of New York, to be designated Vice Chairman
Governor Jane Dee Hull of Arizona
Robert Young of Georgia

The President intends to appoint the following individuals to serve as Members of the Congressional-Executive Commission on the People's Republic of China:

Grant D. Aldonas of Minnesota
Donald Cameron Findlay of Illinois
Paula J. Dobriansky of Virginia
Lorne W. Craner of Virginia
James Andrew Kelly of Hawaii
