Political-Military Action Team (PMAT)

The staff of the Political-Military Action Team receives a superior honor award from PM Assistant Secretary Lincoln BloomfieldThe Political-Military Action Team (PMAT) is a 24-hour per day, seven-day per week point of contact for operations related to the Global War On Terrorism. PMAT coordinates with the Department of Defense (including the Joint Chiefs of Staff), the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and the Combatant Commands on U.S. diplomatic activities in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). Ongoing PMAT responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating Department of State (DoS) inputs to Military Deployment and Execute Orders;

  • Producing twice daily Situational Reports (SITREP) on breaking developments to DoS and select interagency principals;

  • Managing Global Coalition Support Campaigns;

  • Supporting Military Interdiction Operations;

  • Alerting DoS principals on developing situations that are not mentioned in other intelligence reports;

  • Coordinating OEF and International Security Assistance Force staffing and material support, including requests for Coalition Forces;

  • Supporting International Criminal Court and Article 98 Negotiations; and 

  • Briefing Principals on current OEF and related deployments.
