Introduction to Public Places
The information provided here will guide you in your effort to eliminate
smoking in all enclosed public facilities, including but not limited to
- Aquariums
- Child care and adult day care facilities
- Clinics
- Convention facilities
- Community centers
- Dining areas
- Elevators
- Galleries
- Hospitals
- Lecture halls
- Libraries
- Movie theaters
- Museums
- Nursing homes
- Performance halls
- Polling places
- Public transportation facilities (including buses and taxicabs) under the
authority of your city government, such as ticket, boarding, and waiting areas
of public transit depots
- Restrooms, lobbies, reception areas, hallways, and other common-use areas
- Rooms, chambers, and places of meeting or public assembly (including school
buildings) that are under the control of an agency, board, commission,
committee, or city or county council; or, if these places are under the
control of a political subdivision of the State when a public meeting is in
progress, to the extent the place is subject to the jurisdiction of your city
or county
- Service lines (i.e., waiting in a line, indoors, to receive a service)
- Sports arenas, including enclosed places in outdoor arenas
- Theaters
