Speaking at the annual meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), Jon Dudas, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, hailed a year of agency successes during the past year. In his speech, Under Secretary Dudas touched on the implementation of quality initiatives, improved training and testing for examiners, the electronic processing of patent applications, an improved budget picture, progress in ending fee diversion and the international protection of American intellectual property rights.
