Andean Telecom Negotiators Gain Better Understanding of U.S. Positions/Goals

In an effort to enhance Colombia's, Ecuador's and Peru's understanding of the complex telecommunications market and regulatory environment in the U.S., the U.S. Department of State's EB/CIP brought 19 top-level telecommunications regulators and trade negotiators to Washington September 30 - October 1 with Telecom Leadership Program (TLP) funds. The three Andean countries are currently engaged in Free Trade negotiations with the U.S. The group met with David Gross in the Department as well as with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Department of Commerce's NTIA (National Telecommunications and Information Administration), the U.S. Telecom Training Institute, and telecommunications industry associations.
