Secretary Albright, Remarks at Dinner for Kosovo Front Line State Foreign Ministers: "NATO will stick with you. We will not be divided or dissuaded from our mission. We will stand firm. We will not be taken in by Milosevic's half-truths, untruths and evasions." 4/22/99
Secretary Albright: "Events in Kosovo have shown clearly why we need a strong and adapted NATO with new members and new capabilities, ready to take on new missions. [U.K. Foreign Secretary Cook] and I discussed the remaining summit issues, and I welcomed Prime Minister Blair's ideas on strengthening the European pillar of our alliance to help make Europe more able to act effectively while maintaining its strong links to NATO.
"NATO's fundamental purpose -- safeguarding the ideals, interests and territory of its members -- is unchanging. At its foundation are enduring ties of trust and friendship between America and its allies. April 22, 1999
