OPPORTUNITIES FOR DISPLACED BOEING WORKERS

Clearly, it was impossible to anticipate the far-reaching effects resulting from the tragic September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States. Although the collateral impacts of this event are still being assessed, I am concerned with the immediate effect it is having on employment in Washington State. I am providing the following information in an effort to help those who have experienced loss of employment:

For questions regarding:

· Job Loss, Layoffs, Business Closures, Unemployment Benefits and Job Training: 1-877-US-2JOBS;
· Loss of Pension and Health Benefits, Portability of Health Benefits: 1-866-4-USA-DOL;
· Reemployment Rights for Veterans, National Guard, or Reservists: 1-866-4-USA-DOL;
· Other Department of Labor Questions: 1-866-4-USA-DOL; and
· Washington State Department of Labor and Industries: 1-800-547-8367

In addition, displaced workers may also use several websites known as "America's Career Kit," a network of electronic tools developed and maintained through the leadership of the Department of Labor in partnership with state workforce agencies, local workforce service delivery providers, education and training institutions, and private sector organizations:

· America's Job Bank: www.ajb.org
· America's Career Info Net: www.acinet.org
· America's Learning Exchange: www.alx.org
· America's Service Locator: www.servicelocator.org
· WorkSource Washington: www.wa.gov/est/dw/
