REP. JENNIFER DUNN STATEMENT ON 9-11 ANNIVERSARY

September 10, 2004

WASHINGTON, D.C. - As we approach the third anniversary of the worst terrorist attack in our nation's history, we pay respect to the nearly 3,000 innocent men, women and children who lost their lives in the war on terrorism.

Despite the tragedy that befell our nation that day, we have demonstrated a remarkable resilience that has completely undermined the terrorists' objectives. Their hatred of our freedom has inspired us to spread freedom throughout the world; from the ashes of Ground Zero new buildings are about to rise; rather than cower in fear our nation is more secure than ever before and we are taking the fight to the terrorists overseas.

I am grateful beyond words for the service of the men and women in our Armed Services and the sacrifices of their families and loved ones. Many have given their lives for the safety of the country they loved. It is up to us to stay the course in this most difficult endeavor to ensure their loss is not without meaning.

September 11th will always serve as a grim reminder of the ruthless nature of our enemy. The terrorists will not negotiate and neither can we. Our dedication to fighting the war on terrorism must be unwavering.
