The National Transportation Safety Board occasionally conducts public forums, symposia, and other meetings to focus attention and gather information about safety issues in all modes of transportation. Unlike NTSB Public Hearings, these events do not focus on a specific accident investigation but rather on specific safety issues that have been a factor in past accident investigations and will likely be issues in future accidents unless the transportation community takes action. The formats of these events vary, but all are designed to advance the knowledge of meeting participants and to stimulate interest in the safety issue. The public and media are welcome to attend the event and listen to the proceedings, or they can view a webcast of the event.
