Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Question:
What information can you give about accessibility for people with disabilities?

Answer:
Northern District of California Web Page Accessibility

Our Court website includes several features designed to improve accessibility for users with disabilities. Some of these features
are described below.

Images on the site contain 'alt tags,' which aid users who listen to the content of the site by using a screen reader, rather than
reading the site. In addition to the features that make the graphics version of the site more accessible, a text-only version "Text
Only Site Map" provides added convenience for users.

We are beginning to convert all existing .pdf files into "tagged" .pdf documents that provide a number of capabilities
that improve access for users with screen readers.

Read Adobe PDF documents with Windows-based screen readers from vendors such as Freedom
Scientific and GW MicroUse keyboard navigation
View documents in high contrast mode
Zoom in on text and reflow to fit any size view when working with tagged (accessible) Adobe PDF files

Users can get information regarding the accessibility of Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files from
http://Access.Adobe.com website.

To improve the accessibility of www.cand.uscourts.gov, we are asking users with disabilities to review the site's accessibility
with outside web tools. The results of these reviews have been and will continue to be incorporated into our website. We
welcome comments on how to improve the site's accessibility.
