These food market indicators provide overall statistics describing economic
activity related to food production and distribution from the farm to
the consumer (domestic or international). The database provides information
on the supply, demand, structure, and economic health of the U.S. food
system and indicators that are useful in determining how well the system
serves its consumers and producers.

The Food
Marketing System is a set of spreadsheets that provides information
on the supply side of food markets. Data are organized under the following
headings: sales indicators, structural indicators, performance indicators,
international indicators, and other economic characteristics. |

and Food Expenditures Data include one table on ERS's CPI forecasts
and 16 tables on ERS’s expenditure series. |

Farm-to-Retail
Price Spreads for Food includes three tables on the distribution
of consumer expenditures for food between farm value and marketing
costs, over time and for individual food items, and two tables showing
farm-to-retail price spreads. Note that there is also a separate
Retail Scanner Prices for Meat data product. |
