Slide 2 - Title:
AIDS in 20-to 24-Year-Olds, by Sex and Year of Report, through 2002, United States

As of December 2002, a total of 29,945 persons aged 20 to 24 years were reported with AIDS; most were men. In 1985, 89% of cases reported in persons 20 to 24 years old were in men. However, as heterosexual contact has accounted for an increasing proportion of HIV infections, particularly in women, the proportion of cases reported in women has increased. In 2002, 37% of the 1,575 cases reported were in women.
